Last Thursday, I attended a small Bible Talk group via Zoom. It's crazy that this month I just started joining a couple small groups to support my learning and my walk with God. It's thanks to a dear friend who invited me to them. Here are notes of what I learned and added thoughts of my own and questions:
What is your worst fear?
Fear causes panic and freeze up. Fear comes from the unknown or uncertainty.
Phobias vs fear
Let's define these words:
Phobia: an extreme or irrational fear of or aversion to something
Fear: an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat.
Remember, fear is not just physical; it’s part of the spiritual realm. Fear is not part of God. Here is a Bible verse to highlight the point:

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Ephesians 6:12
It's normal to have fears and phobias. How do we respond to them shows where we stand in our relationship with God. Will you trust God today with your fears, anxiety and phobias?
Can fear steal a miracle that God has for you? Yes when you don’t trust God in the situation. Read Matthew 14:22-31.
James 1:6-8. What is double-minded? Thinking in two different ways and not trust in the Lord. Fear causes us to be double-minded. God will lead us to challenging situations to help us grow in our faith in him.
Many people have a fear of judgement which prevents us from truly growing. Doubts can make us stop believing. Read John 20:27 and Matthew 28:17 to examine what doubts and fears that these disciplines had.
Who do you call first when you’re in danger or at risk? Many people would call on God even when they don’t really believe in our Lord. Only God can help us. The spirit of fear creep in and calling on God first can help change you and the situation. Going to God should be our first response when we need help.
Start with "Dear God, help me (add your own concerns)....," be still and listen. God will answer you. Be patient.
