This morning, I feel like I needed a change up things up to connect with other believers outside of my local community and learn with them. I enjoyed attending a church service on Zoom with other brothers and sisters in Christ located in another city. Pastor Peter Tanchi from CCF Seattle gave a powerful sermon about what true love is in God's perspective.
Here are some notes:
*God invented love, not Hollywood. God is love.
*What is true love?
*Secular love is how humans defines it is all about emotions and physical reactions such as attractions, sexual desires and lust. This kind of love is strong affections tied with kindship or other personal ones.
*Watch out for counterfeit love; the kinds that doesn't satisfy.
*We need agape, the unconditional commitment in love that requires giving taught by Jesus.
*True love defined in 1 John 4:7-9,

*True love defined in 1 John 4:7-9,
"Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him."
*True love comes from God. The people who love is born of and knows God. God is love. God sent his son because he loves us. His nature is love. God is holy and righteous. His love is holy and righteous that is showered on us.
*Continues with 1 John 4:10-11. God loves us first for he sent his son to atone for our sins. What greater love is this?
*
How does God loves us with unconditional true love? How can we love each other?
1. Unconditional commitment
2. Directed towards imperfect people especially the undeserving people that is hardest to love who need agape the most
3. To see the highest good
4. Which often requires sacrifice
*True love is an unconditional commitment which is a choice.
*God did not make you his beloved or choose you because you are greater in number of people, he just loves you. In the example of telling the people of Israel, God said, "I chose you, not because you are deserving. I chose you because I love you." Deuteronomy 7:6-9.
This is an example of unconditional commitment.
I really hope you enjoyed this message. Let's remember to show the world that we are God's people through our unconditional love and commitment to each other.
